The Fight

Richard Wright Was a smart boy when he was young. At the age of fifteen Richard wrote his first book "The Voodoo Of Hells Half-Acre". This story was published in southern register, a black newspaper in 1923. Richard kept doing excellent in school and eventually became valedictorian in his junior high school. Richard Wright liked to study other writers work and review them , he wanted to be writer himself. For the communist party in 1933 he wrote many proletarian poems for example he wrote "I Have Seen Black Hands", "We Of The Streets", "Red leaves of red books".After this Wright wrote his first novel in 1935 "Cesspool", published as Lawd Today (1963),then Richard began to work with the National Negro congress.

Richard Wright as against racism because during his time there was people that would discriminate against African Americans, he many times got discriminated by people because he was a successful black man and many Americans did not like it. Time went by and Richard moved to New York and worked on the WPA Writers' Project guidebook to the city, New York Panorama and in 1938, and wrote the book's essay on Harlem. Wright became the Harlem editor of the Daily Worker. He wrote over 200 articles. After Mr Wright earned a magazine prize in the early 1938. Wright also wrote short stories about communism.

Richard Wright wrote a story called "The Fight" in this story the narrator was going to start going to a new school. The narrator was a teenager going high school where there was all sorts of other kids meaning good or bad. He went to the new school as a regular kid and had the most common problems a young adult has when entering a new school, some group of kids started messing with him trying to bully him without knowing him. When they started approaching him he already new what was going on so he started to think what he should do , he could have either ignored them or kept playing the little game they wanted him to play. so what he did was answer back to what they had to say and dis hem the same say they were doing to him, once he did this they saw that the kid they thought to bully was not any ordinary scared kid so they kept pushing his buttons until they physically pushed him and he reacted back by punching one of them in the face and when he did this they backed off and thought i shouldn't mess with him he is not punk.

For example here are some of the phrases from the story that shows the conflict ; "You think I'm scared of you, don't you?" he asked. "I told you what I think," I said. Somebody, eager and afraid that we would not fight, pushed the boy, and be bumped into me. I shoved him away violently. "Dont push me!" the boy said. "Then keep off me!" I said. He was pushed again, and I struck out with my right and caught him in the mouth.

I honestly agree with the narrator when he did this to show those kids not to mess with him because when bully's sense fear they will not leave you alone till they push your buttons. teenagers that bully only go so far but they never really know if the person they are tying to bully will react worse then them, or if they simply react back to them.
